Oxlajuj B’atz’ (the name indicates an auspicious day in the Maya calendar “Thirteen Threads”) is an all-Maya women run Guatemalan non-profit in Panajachel, Guatemala.

Oxlajuj B’atz’ Board members and associates

Oxlajuj B’atz’ helps Maya women in the Lake Atitlan area achieve greater self-sufficiency by bringing to their communities workshops in craft and business skills, in leadership training and decision making, thus empowering the women. They gain more knowledge and self-confidence and become better able to provide income for their families and children. Oxlajuj B’atz’ serves hundreds of women from six different Mayan language communities by providing assistance and training.
MEF supports the educational workshops of Oxlajuj B’atz’ and thanks the Daniele Agostino Derossi Foundation as well as Dining for Women for their multi-year grants in support of Oxlajuj B’atz’.
